Boosting Messaging with Speech Acts

This paper deals with conversations at an abstract level. The purpose is to sketch a theoretical framework for messaging where electronically mediated conversations can be decomposed into elements. More specifically, the decomposition takes advantage of the speech act theory. The speech act theory has already been applied to both human beings and artificial agents, but in separate contexts and with different intentions. In this paper a unitary method for treating the conversations is proposed. The intention is that one conversating community can include both humans and artificial agents. This paper concentrates mainly on the action-related elements of conversations.
